This is itMichael Jackson told his fans “This Is It”, "This is the final curtain
call." The curtain fell to soon though. What he left is this amazing
documentary, not what I was expecting to see. He did not appear to be a sick
junkie struggling to get through exhausting rehearsals, he embodied a spiritual
presents filled with an unbelievable love for music and the people around him. Michael
Jackson was no ordinary man.
The film is a combination of footage during rehearsals from April through
June 2009 for a concert tour set for this summer. The footage was shot on
multiple professional high-def cameras and the sound track is in full quality
awesome stereo sound. The result is one of the most illuminating music
documentaries I have ever seen.
This documentary is much more then an artist preparing for a concert. It's a
portrait of Michael Jackson that shows a strong passionate man ready to tour. The
DVD gives you a realistic experience witch provides a good idea of what the
final concert would have looked like.
Never showing irritation, always soft-spoken and courteous to his cast and
crew, M.J. and his director, Kenny Ortega, managed the production. With close
attention to details of music and dance Michael refined the show. He was not
just an instrument of the production. He was the conductor of an elaborate
master piece.
We all have heard that Michael was subjected to a cocktail of drugs in the time
leading up to his death, and with that being said it makes it hard to
understand how he appeared to be in excellent physical condition. His
choreography was precise, and perfectly-timed movements, had to be exhausting,
but he never shows a single sign of tiring. His movements are so in sync with
the other dancers on stage, all of who are much younger and highly-trained, and
still he is on point every time. This is a person in such control of his
physical mechanism that he makes gliding across the stage seem as natural as walking
across the street.
He has always been an entertainer first, and then a singer. He captivates
his fans with movements that could be nothing less then magical but don’t get
it twisted his unmatched vocals will forever be admired and imitated but never
duplicated.
With out a doubt this would have been one of the greatest shows ever
produced. The special effects coordinated with pre-filmed sequences and
unbelievable stage work. There is a horror sequence that takes Thriller to the
next level. Michael is inserted into scenes from a Bogart movie, and with outstanding
f/x everything fits together seamlessly.
His audience consists entirely of his cast and crew. They love him. There is
no acting here. They truly love him not just for his music, but even more for
his attitude. Stars in rehearsal are known for being real jerks. Michael jumps
in with the spirit of a worker, prepared to get the job done and go the
distance.
Well, he did it. "This Is It" is proof that he would not have let
down his colleagues and fans. He was fully prepared for his big night. He was
at the top of his game. There's no doubt in my mind that Michael Jackson was
and forever will be one of the greatest.
This is it.
